Artisan Whimsy Owl Challenge

There is a challenge going on over at Artisan Whimsy - the new gathering/sharing blog for jewelry and bead artists!  Create a piece of handmade artisan jewelry or an art bead featuring owls!

Many of my customers enjoy wearing jewelry to work that is simple and classic.  With that in mind, I created a pair of owl earrings using some beautiful silver plated owls, and teardrop malachite gems that I received in a bead exchange from the lovely and talented Rita at Toltec Jewels for Jewel School Friends. I added small Swarovski crystal bicones for a hint of sparkle.  Head over to Artisan Whimsy on October 31st to see the contest entries and vote for your favorites.  While you are there, how about joining?  It is free and it is fun.  Here is the website: http://www.artisanwhimsy.ning.com

Here are my earrings:

  11. Thank you for the reminder that jewelry doesn't always have to be over-thought or over-worked in order to be beautiful. Classic and simple can also win the race. Your owl earrings are a perfect example of this beautiful simplicity.
